This jamdani dhakai scarf is woven by hand in India. Jamdani is a weaving technique that originates in Dhaka. Weaving this precious fabric so labour intensive that the fabric used to be reserved for the aristocracy. We feel very lucky to able to present this fabric in the form of supple shawls to you.
The warp is dark blue cotton dyed with natural indigo, the weft is white cotton. This creates an intermingled and lively light blue fabric. The jamdani motifs have been woven into the fabric with a supplementary weft from wild tussar silk.
