Our jute collection is inspired by the elegant tradition weaving patterns of Bangladesh. Tulsi Crafts designed the bags with a clean and crisp design, that combines in an interesting way with the traditional Bengal weaving techniques. The clear lines create a contrast with the artisanal feeling of the handwoven jute.
fair trade
All our products are made in Bangladesh. Tulsi Crafts works with a fair trade certified (WFTO) organisation that empowers women in Bangladesh. Tulsi Crafts designs the products together with this organisation. They’re both active in urban areas and in the countryside. This also gives women the opportunity to earn a decent income when they live in the countryside, as there are not many jobs available. This means they don’t have to relocate to the city, where they are likely to end up in a slum and jobs are underpaid and heavy. Instead this gives the artisans working for our partner oaganisation the opportunity to build a good life for themselves and their families in their village.
